Pitch session (3 mins each): Here is the list of pitchers presenting their ideas and companies, and looking for investors. All very interesting social entrepreneurs – read more about them here – and a few of them will gain even more visibility as to funding and networking if they are chosen to present at the conference. I feel very grateful to be meeting so many interesting people with great ideas and companies, including the other volunteers and the event organisers.

Apart from the evident goodness of preserving nature, this is a lesson in appreciating what you have and putting a (new) spin on it according to a current and relevant issue also suitable for storytelling / PR. In these times of global warming, issues are flourishing as to the price of development and evolution, and therefore, an old road of trees – once established and now fought for by “greenery-oriented” people – can become a sensational story with green benefits.

It is very simple card containing on one side illustrations of how to fold a Japanese Origami bird, and on the other side the take away restaurant’s most basic contacts details – phone number and website – as well as recommending to eat Sushi fresh. It is both fun for creative adults and children.

This is an extremely well done video (in terms of narrative and animation) by Adesias about our generation (people born between 1980 and 2000) – the Generation Y.

Thanks to the Internet, we have at our disposal new & constant access to information and new ways of exchanging knowledge and socializing. This powerful and illustrative video really makes one think about the drastic changes in the past decade.

Leola Lewis and Joe McDonald Creative Facebook use

This is such a fun social media strategy by Donnelyn Curtis, director of the University of Nevada’s research collections.

She uses Facebook profiles to give reincarnated lives online to students from the 1910s, Leola Lewis (the photo above is taken from her profile) and Joe McDonald.

(UPDATE: Unfortunately, as could be predicted, the profiles have been taken down, even if there is definitely much potential in this kind of thinking - see end of this post)

I like the engaging idea of linking this fun, illustrative and educational video with a competition launched by the utility company Frederiksberg Forsyning. Answers to questions can be found within the video’s explanation of where the local gas stems from – (translation: natural gas is pumped up and mixed with 50% air).
